This class is offered in the fall semester at the same day and time that Economics is offered in the spring; these two classes are designed to be offered together to make a full-year high school Social Science credit for 11th or 12th graders.

Criminological Crime Scene Investigation

This offering is a little different than most crime scene investigation classes and will give the student a deeper understanding of the importance and complexities of crime scene investigation and evidence processing. This class will focus additionally on the importance of criminology and the theoretical impact to the investigation and identification of the offender. This class will also reveal to the student the importance of how the crime scene impacts the development of the suspect and how the detective uses crime scene information in the interview and interrogation to get the confession. All lessons will be pre-recorded this semester and available for student access on the Schoology platform.

Economics (high school)

Introduction to Economics will present the foundational concepts, major ideologies and practical topics of the field of micro and macro economics through a combination of traditional textbook, fictional examples, independent projects and current events. Class lectures are fun, interactive discussions, and homework, while rigorous, includes textbook assignments, supplemental reading, and assorted video clips (cleaned up if necessary!) of movie and TV programs that demonstrate economic concepts in a way that make topics come alive.

This class pairs well with American Government which is offered at the same day and time in the spring semester. Suggested grade level 10-12.

Exploring US History (middle school)

This class leads the student through the exciting and fascinating story of how the most powerful nation on Earth came to be. The main events of how this nation was settled will be covered, one chapter per week, from the very beginning of the original peoples of this land all the way to the present. Students will be led on this journey into American history from a Biblical perspective. This class will encourage students to discover God’s purpose through critical thinking and discussion. The ideas and principles of the founders of this country will be explored and applied to how we think about our country today.

Geography Around the World (middle school)

This is a fun, interactive class which will introduce and explore the world and its people, cultures and regions. We will be taking a trip around the world together. Map study is included, as well as regional foods. We will spend approximately two weeks on each continent.

Mrs. Coffey has personally traveled to six continents and will share experiences in live class. If God should choose to call any of her students to the mission field in the future, she wants them to be equipped and prepared to understand the culture and the land to which they are sent.

Geography, Culture, and Literature

Journey around the world, explore the continents, cultures, and people through living history books, mapping, discussions, and fun. High schoolers can add essays and geography work to their load. Families will download a PDF booklet for each student for class. Students will need a binder for class. This class allows for the students to explore as much as they can. Social Studies through Literature

This 6th grade Social Studies through Literature course guides students with a Christian perspective as citizens of our world, nation, and communities. The first semester explores world history from creation through modern times.  The second semester brings US history alive, covering significant events that shaped our country.  Well-written, God-honoring historical fiction books corroborate the social studies text, sparking students’ inquiry skills and furthering their perceptions of life during different historical periods.

The American Criminal Justice System & Homeland Security

This class will focus on the inner workings of the American Criminal Justice System and will detail how the various components work together in the pursuit of justice. Highlighted will be some of the hot-button policing issues profiled in the news and media. The class will also explore the challenges of homeland security and how local agencies and organizations prepare for current and future threats. This class will include live interactive classes, projects, research activities, and interactive discussions all designed to give the student a realistic understanding of this topic. World Geography: Physical & Cultural

There are five “fundamental themes of geography” which every student should investigate and know. These five themes are human movement on the earth, regions of the earth, the location of the continents and countries on the earth, human interaction with the earth, and the place, or physical attributes of each region on the earth.

World History is a fascinating, engaging course which explains the history of the world from creation to the present. This class is based on Biblical principles and truths. Students will see the providential hand of God throughout the history of mankind while learning about the world and world events. Units which will be covered include the Ancient, Eastern, Medieval, Awakening, Enlightened, European, and Modern world. An Activity Manual will be used to reinforce the material.
